Crested Butte Elopements & Intimate Weddings

Elopement

Crested Butte, Colorado is known as the “Wildflower Capital of the Nation” during its peak summertime months. Living up to its nickname, this small historic mountain town dazzles guests with mountain sides covered in a variety of wild flowers. The vibrant purple lupine fields stand out amongst the greenery around. The mix of yellow sunflowers, fireweed, and Colorado’s State Flower, columbines add to the awe of the vast mountain backdrops. Sitting at 8,909 ft above sea level, the flowers are not the only thing to take your breath away. As a visitor from any elevation, it is highly encouraged to stay hydrated to make the most of your mountain adventure. If your heart is set on eloping or tying the knot in this unique town, here are the highlights from my most recent summertime elopement session in Crested Butte.

If you want the western feel of Colorado’s cowboy history, Crested Butte has a quaint downtown with shops and restaurants that have been established favorites for many years. Just up the road, a public camping site and trailhead share a wide open field space with a local stable. Their horses roam these wildflower fields grazing on the land. This picturesque scene feels like it is pulled from a movie screen. If you’re lucky enough, you’ll catch a classic Colorado sunset right next to these four-legged locals. On this specific summer night, we were met with the perfect weather from start to finish. We were blessed with a blue sky and 75 degree afternoon when I began photographing T and Lydia. Plenty of time for vow readings, intimate moments, and plenty of frolicking through stunning wildflower fields, these two made me appreciate just how freeing elopements are. We closed the end of our two hour session with a sunset and blue hour that seamlessly wrapped up our session.
